The date was September 19th, 2020. A group of friends were playing The Loop at Forest Dunes in Roscommon, MI. One of the players in the group, notoriously bad with the flat stick, had just drained a 40-footer. “You know, I’m a Sneaky Good Putter.” And just like that the idea of the Sneaky Good golfer was born.

As our description says, “Let’s face it. If you’re reading this you probably suck at this game.” And that’s true. We can kid ourselves as much as we want but at the end of the day, for the most part, we all suck at golf. Varying degrees of suck of course, but suck all the same.

So, what is Sneaky Good Golf? We are a group of amateur golfers chasing that next tour caliber shot. That shot that keeps us coming back to play another round tomorrow. That one great shot a round that we all know we are capable of hitting.

I can bomb one 305 off the tee with the prettiest little butter cut you’ve ever seen, just as easy as I can cold top one into the weeds.

I can hit a nice little wedge from 100 out and stick it 6 feet when on the previous hole I bladed one over the green.

I can have 40 putts in a round today and 27 tomorrow.

The point is we all hit plenty of really bad shots. But we are also capable of sprinkling in some great ones too. When you hit that great shot, you are sneaky good.

I’ll bet you catch yourself saying it the next time you play golf. The next time you drain a long putt, or execute the flop shot you have no business attempting, or catch a 3 wood perfectly off the deck. You’re going to say to yourself, “I’m sneaky good.”

The point is, most of us are never going pro. But we all have some great shots lurking deep within.

So…

So, for the 15 handicap with two hole in ones. Or the guy who can’t putt that just drained a 40-footer. Or the weekend hack that just piped one down the middle. You are sneaky good.”

And when in doubt, just swing as absolutely fucking hard as you can. I promise it works.
